CPM 154 stainless steel is a new PM version of the popular 154CM stainless steel grade. 154CM became popular with custom knifemakers during the 1980s. This grade has been recently produced using the PM process, providing some added benefits to both the maker and the user.

CPM 154 has better toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance than 440C. The PM processing adds additional toughness over the the conventional 154CM version of this grade. CPM 154 has proven to have excellent edge retention. This is an excellent all-around grade for both the custom knifemaker and the user.
