S-7 ESR Mold Steel Data Sheet

Common Tradenames: S-7 XL, S-7 Mold Quality

S-7 ESR is a high purity version of S-7 tool steel that is produced using the electrslag remelt process. This process produces a more uniform microstructure and better microcleanliness, providing the toolmaker with higher polishibility, higher transverse toughness and better consistency in wire EDM operations. S-7 ESR is especially useful in plastic molds requiring a high degree of polishibility.
