Stainless and Mold Steel Comparison Chart

Below is a comparison chart that compares the toughness, wear resistance, hardness and corrosion resistance of many common mold steels including 440C and 420 ESR stainless steel, D-2, S-7 ESR and H-13 ESR mold steels. The hardness shown is the typical hardness used for each grade in plastic injection molding and vinyl extrusion applications. The corrosion results are relative values based on tests including exposure to 10% boiling acetic.
